Family Craft: “Thankful Tree”
Everyone can contribute at their own level, toddlers draw, teens design, and adults write meaningful messages.
You’ll need:
- A few sticks or small branches (from the yard or park)
- A vase or jar to hold them (fill with rocks or rice for stability)
- Construction paper or cardstock (fall colors!)
- Scissors, markers, tape or string
Instructions:
- Cut out leaf shapes from the paper (younger kids can trace cookie cutters or use pre-made templates).
- Have everyone write or draw something they’re thankful for on their leaves.
- Punch a hole in each leaf and tie it to a branch.
- Place the “Thankful Tree” on your table or counter as a seasonal centerpiece.
💡 Tip: Teens can handle the decorating or handwriting for younger kids, and adults can share stories about their thankful moments.
Treat Time: “Fall Snack Bar”
Set up a mini DIY station so everyone builds their own snack:
Base options:
- Apple slices
- Graham crackers
- Pretzels
- Popcorn
Toppings:
- Caramel drizzle
- Mini marshmallows
- Chocolate chips
- Crushed nuts
- Cinnamon sugar
- Peanut butter
Let everyone create their own combo!
Cozy Family Movie or Game
Give two options, choose as a group:
Movie Night Picks:
- Younger kids: Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
- Older kids/teens: Coco, Paddington 2, Hocus Pocus
Build a blanket fort or pile up pillows for extra coziness.
🎲 OR Game Option:
- Younger kids: Go Fish, Candy Land
- Mixed ages: Charades, Uno, or a Fall Scavenger Hunt (“Find something orange,” “Something crunchy,” “Something that smells like fall”).
Family Fall Photo Booth
Make a simple backdrop with:
- A plain wall + string lights
- Some paper leaves or mini pumpkins for props
Use a phone or tablet for fun photos, and everyone takes turns being the photographer!
