This weekend marked a special milestone for me—our very first family outing since becoming a Macaroni KID Publisher! My husband and I decided to take our two little ones, along with our nephew, on an adventure to Storybook Island in Rapid City.
It’s been nearly five years since our family last visited, and during that time, our oldest has been in high school. Walking through the gates again felt like stepping into a whole new world. Storybook Island has made so many wonderful updates and added new areas since our last visit, making it just as magical (if not more!) than I remembered.
The joy on our kids’ faces said it all. At ages 3, 2, and 1, they were captivated by every castle, character, and play area. We spent about two hours exploring, which was the perfect amount of time for little legs and big imaginations. It was also heartwarming to see how many other families had the same idea—it truly is a community treasure that brings people together.
Today was the last day of the regular season, but don’t worry—Storybook Island has several special events planned, so there are still opportunities to make memories there before the year ends.
I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off my journey as a Macaroni KID Publisher than by experiencing a local favorite with my family. Storybook Island reminded me why I’m so excited to share family fun in our area—it’s about creating those simple, joyful moments together that last a lifetime. 💖
